Map local scanners to remote desktops

About this software

TSScan maps local scanners into virtual TWAIN devices on a remote desktop or terminal server, enabling applications on the server to access client-side scanners without installing scanner drivers on the server. It uses Microsoft Virtual Channel technology for RDP and is compatible with Citrix and PCoIP sessions. TSScan can save scans to TIFF, JPEG, BMP or PDF and includes a standalone scanning GUI plus configurable compression and quality settings.

Frequently asked questions

How does TSScan make local scanners available remotely?
TSScan installs a server-side virtual TWAIN data source that maps to client scanner devices via Microsoft Virtual Channels, allowing server applications to call local scanners as if they were installed locally.
Which scanner hardware is supported by TSScan?
TSScan supports modern TWAIN scanners including document feeders, card scanners, slide/transparency scanners, duplex devices, and Fujitsu ScanSnap models with supported client software.
Does TSScan require open network ports for operation?
No; TSScan uses RDP virtual channels so scanning data travels inside the existing secure RDP connection without extra port forwarding.
What file formats can TSScan produce?
Scans can be saved as TIFF, JPEG, BMP, or embedded into PDF files using the TSScan standalone GUI or direct application scanning.
Which platforms and remote environments does TSScan support?
TSScan provides server and client installers for Windows and macOS clients and supports RDP, Citrix, and PCoIP remote sessions on supported Windows servers.
